about

Sparkly Eyes and Thunder Paw is the story of Sasha and Balto - two of our beloved rescued huskies. As with most things in life, it's all about timing. Balto drove back from Texas with Randi and me when he was about 2 years old. Sasha had been with us about 6 or 7 years by that time and when they met it was true love. The timing was perfect for them. Balto was really rough around the edges and Sasha pretty much showed him the ropes. He still did a lot of dopey things and he always lived it to the fullest. Sasha, always the diva, would usually just watch him and shake her pretty head. They did almost everything together. When Balto took his final journey across the rainbow bridge, Sasha was devastated. We all were. But life goes on and so does the song. If nothing else, this song is great to swing dance to!

lyrics

Sparkly Eyes and Thunder Paw

Sparkly Eyes and Thunder Paw, they made a mighty fine pair
She was pretty as the starry sky you could say she was beyond compare
He was rougher than the Appalachian Trail with a history twice as long
He was cool he was hard he was tough as nails that SOB was just a little head strong
He loved the sun she loved the snow but they both loved to be on the run
He was rude she was refined with a bit of a bad attitude

Under her wing he’d learn how to sing love and dance and get a second chance
He’d keep her young but she held her own when the rompin and rollin got a bit out of hand
They used to love to walk the streets at night see the sights of old G-town
He’d meander she’d never wander get there together nose to the ground
He’d take it fast she’d take it slow he never really knew which way to go
She’d bring him back hit the sack stare at each other and take a little nap

They loved to eat they loved to drink she always told him exactly what to think
He’d take it in and let it go he was wise enough to never let it show
Talk about love he could never get enough she’d rub his nose just don’t touch his toes
He’d nuzzle her up she’d sniff him down a neurotic princess and a lovable clown
She’d watch the lights he’d jump the couch she’d check the dishes he’d check her out
He’d try to fly drown and electrify she’d lay in bed and just wonder why

So raise a glass to the laddie and the lass who make this old house a home
For the days that he lays at my feet while I play and the way she loves cleaning the chrome
And let’s drink some more for all the times they’re at the door
Wondering where the hell we’ve been once again
For his happy dance show after every time that he goes and her lectures in Siberian
He loves the sun she loves the snow but they both love to be on the run
He’s still rude she’s refined with a bit of a bad attitude
