about

The sinking of the Titanic was a disaster. Yet, about 700 people survived. I imagine this was due in large part to the captain of the ship keeping his head and holding it together in the chaos that surrounded him. I think we've all felt a little bit like that at some point. Whether it's with our family, coworkers, school mates, friends, or just our own self. You've just got to hold it together until the sun starts shining again.

I was lucky enough to hear a presentation by Doug Smith, head wolf biologist for Yellowstone National Park. He shared with us a conversation he had with one of his friends. Doug asked his friend how in the world wolves have the strength and spirit to survive under such difficult circumstances. Extremes in weather, disease, lack of food, risking death for every meal, rival packs, poachers and more. His friend responded, " I think in their heads, they are always saying to themselves that tomorrow might just be a better day".

And there you have it. Tomorrow might just be a better day. Gotta keep bailing honey. Waiting for the sky to get sunny!

lyrics

Feel like I’m a little like the captain on the Titanic
Always navigating icebergs wishing I could finally rhyme the right words
Water keeps rising and I’m still advising everybody not to panic
Just enjoy the trip ‘cuz you and I are going down with this ship

So let’s sail away - it’ll be okay
Got to keep baling honey, waiting for the sky to get sunny
We might be sinking but here’s what I’m thinking,
Keep on holding onto me, baby
We’re going down and I don’t mean maybe

Lying in the sand on my island in the middle of my ocean
Wishing you were here wishing you could bring me a nice cold beer
Stranded all alone I am prone to get in touch with my emotions
And that’s a dangerous thing, kind of like floating in your dinghy in the lightning

So let’s sail away - it’ll be okay
Got to keep baling honey, waiting for the sky to get sunny
We might be sinking but here’s what I’m thinking,
Keep on holding onto me, baby
We’re going down and I don’t mean maybe

Sun’s still rising in the morning, sinking every evening
It’s a natural thing, birds start singing and the bees keep on stinging
Life will kill your pride but faith can turn the tide need to keep on believing
It’s the only way, tomorrow just might be a better day

So let’s sail away - it’ll be okay
Got to keep baling honey, waiting for the sky to get sunny
We might be sinking but here’s what I’m thinking,
Keep on holding onto me, baby
We’re going down and I don’t mean maybe
